Mantis started it's rebellion against the legs and feet of the bug killers when it debuted in 96'. It was originally named Banshee, an Indian mythical character, but was changed after Cedar Point realized that the correct definition of a Banshee is the image one sees before death. The colors of this standup coaster depicts the Banshee name with it's bright blue, red and yellow hues. The creators of this legendary coaster are Bolliger & Mabillard of Monthey Switzerland whom developed the standup coaster into what it is today. Standing inside the train Mantis riders are forced into "standing" the four inversions Mantis deals out including a 119-foot vertical loop, a 103-foot diving loop, an 83-foot inclined loop and a corkscrew. The rebellion lasts a total of 2 minutes, 40 seconds and travels 3,900 feet to remind you to respect insects or standup to the consequences!
