Millennium Force was the first coaster ever to rise above 300 feet when it was debuted on May 13, 2000, breaking 10 world records including the tallest at 310ft. and fastest at 93mph! It is listed in the 2001 Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest and fastest coaster in the world with Cedar Point listed as the park with the most coasters and rides.
A ride on Millennium Force begins, of course, with a wait in line which varies from an extreme of 4 hours when it first opened to an average of an hour. After the wait you enter the loading station, which only permits 36 people inside at one time, where you pick a car and wait to hear the "Clear" before you climb the lift hill. Utilizing a steel cable instead of a slow, noisy chain the train can climb the top of the 310ft. structure in about 20 seconds traveling at 13mph.The drop is at an amazing 80 degree angle almost giving the feeling of free fall. Then the first of four overbanked turns at an unprecedented 122 degrees! To match this feeling turn your head to the side to 90 degrees, then sway your body to that side some more and that is the feeling but only 169 feet in the air! One of the two joined tunnels follow and a 182ft. hill which crosses a logon to a small wooded island. There you will encounter two more overbanked turns, the second smaller crossing hill and the second tunnel where your picture is taken. Get ready for some MAJOR airtime on the bunnyhill returning back to the station and finally one last overbanked turn at 78ft. The brakes then hit which are a special "magnetic" braking system that offers a smoother yet louder sound than the regular hydraulic brakes of old.
