The first step of installing a York compressor is getting the compressor. I found mine in an 83 Volvo at the PickNPull. It still had a nameplate identifying it as a York F210R. Testing it was easy, I spun the center section to make sure that it generated pressure from the exhaust tube, and I ground the body of the York on the negative terminal of a battery and touched the wire connector to the positive terminal to see if the clutch worked. Total cost for the York was 32 bucks. Would've been 25 but I didn't have the old air compressor with me to get the core return discount. |

The next step was making the bracket adapter so that the York could be bolted in place of the stock AC compressor. The AC compressor and York have different bolt patterns, so I made up two plates using the drawings below. |

Here's what they looked like once I finished them up. For the AC bracket side, I used long bolts and cut the heads off of them to use as studs. |

Now the plates had to be welded together, first I welded a 2 inch tall piece of 1x2 3/16ths to the AC bracket side. |
