| Finally, after a whole lot of unbolting I got the timing chain cover off. I had to hit it with a rubber mallet and actually use a small screwdriver to pry it up after I was absolutely positive there were no more bolts holding it on. I actually unbolted a lot of unnecessary stuff trying to figure out what could be holding it on, so this took me a long time to do. As you can see, there are two huge grooves in the side (top in this pic) of the cover. I'm glad I got around to doing this, because if they went much deeper it would've been into the water jacket. |

| Here's what it looked like on the engine side. As you can see, the drivers side timing chain guide is pretty much completely gone. The passenger side one is also chipped and cracked. |

| After removing the four bolts holding on the guides, here they are next to the new ones I got. The drivers side one is barely even there. I got a new steel one to replace it with rather than a stock Toyota plastic one so it should last much longer. | ||||||||||||||
