| After pulling off my valve cover initially I had made sure that my engine was set at top dead center and put the truck in gear so that it couldn't move. Now it's very important not to move the upper and lower gears independantly because the Toyota interference style engine will grenade if you turn one or the other and throw the camshaft vs crankshaft timing off. So at this point I carefully removed the upper and lower gears, making sure not to move them. The chain came off with them. |

| I then found the 'bright link' in the new timing chain that came with my kit and aligned it with the dimple on the new crankshaft gear. | |||||||||||||||||
| Then I lowered the gear and chain down through the top of the engine and slipped the lower gear over the crankshaft end in the proper orientation. | |||||||||||||||||
| Now with the lower gear in place, I put the timing chain around the upper gear, once again aligning the bright link with the dimple that shoulid be at the top of the new gear. I used a bit of wire to hold the gear in place without slipping it over the camshaft guide, because there was something that needed to be done first. | |||||||||||||||||
