Chapter 10
Meanwhile, Nick left Marcus's room, which was down the hall from the guys, and shook his head. Marcus hadn't seen him either. He walked back down the hall, and opened Kevin's door. Kevin was standing biting his lip, deep in thought, and looked up as he heard Nick enter.
"Anything?"
Nick shook his head.
"Shit."
"What 'bout Bri?" Nick asked. Kevin shook his head slowly.
"Nope, no-ones seen him." Nick sighed.
"But at least that means he is still in the building." Kevin nodded in agreement.
"Look Nick, why don't you go help Brian, he's checking out all the restaurants and bars." Nick's head shot up, a question in his eyes.
"I don't know Nick, but if he's upset..." Nick nodded.
"Okay Kev, I'll go. But what about Howie?" Kevin shook his head.
"Leave him for now, if he finds out AJ's missing, he will blame himself. And he's got enough on his plate." Nick nodded. "I'll keep an eye on him, but I don't think he's going anywhere." Nick shook his head.
"Those two are really something, aren't they." Nick smiled and left the room, speed dialling Brian to find out where he was. Kevin ran a hand through his long hair.
"Yeah" he whispered, "They really are."
Kevin sat down again; he was at a loss. He knew that AJ was hurting, and he needed to find him fast. Although AJ and Howie were best friends, it was Kevin that AJ would turn to with some of the emotional issues. AJ's father had bailed on him when he was little, and since Kevin had come on the scene, he had taken over some of those father duties. Although he had been wary of Kevin at first, eventually Kevin had managed to break down some of AJ's barriers, and get him to talk. He knew AJ almost as well, if not better, at least in some ways, than Howie did. "If you know him so well, then where would he go?" Kevin spoke to himself. He thought about it for a minute before the answer suddenly came to him. He jumped up and ran out the door, pushing the button for the elevator. When it arrived, he pushed the button for the top floor.
