Kevin entered the waiting room and moved over to Howie and Nick. They both looked incredibly frightened, clinging on to each other as if letting go would cause the world to end. Kevin crouched down in front of them and put a hand on each of their knees. Both Boys looked at him expectantly.
You want to go see him together? He asked softly, knowing that they would need each others support to do this.
Howie and Nick looked at each other for a moment before nodding. Kevin patted them on the knee and stood up, allowing them to move as well.
How does he look? Howie asked, wanting to be at least a little prepared.
Not good. Was Kevins reply. But Im sure hell be a bit better when he knows youre both there for him. He added quickly, watching the scared look cross Howies face.
Howie hesitated for a moment before nodding, allowing himself to be pulled away by Nick. As soon as the two of them had left the room and shut the door, Kevin let out a deep sigh, before turning his attention to the remaining man.
Kevin approached him slowly, partly through fear of his reaction, and partly through sheer exhaustion, the long tour combined with the emotional rollercoaster of the last few hours taking its toll.
Finally reaching him, Kevin pulled an empty chair round, setting it directly in front of his friend. He sat himself on it so that they were face to face, or at least they would be when he looked up from the floor.
Kevin reached out a hand and rested it on the other mans knee, surprised when he felt him violently flinch away from the touch.
But he persisted, and kept his hand there, trying to calm to smaller man down a little.
What happened? Kevin asked softly, watching as the other man brought his hands up to cover his face, even as he still looked down.
I need to know. Kevin continued, not willing to let this go now.
The other man shook his head, refusing to answer, his shoulders beginning to shake with the effort to hold back his tears.
This is serious. What the hell could he possibly have done for you to push him away like you have? Kevin asked. You and I both know that whatever has been going on between you two has pushed him to this. He was fine, he was doing so well. And then something happened between you two. What was it? Kevin demanded.
The smaller man buried his face deeper in his hands and gave up trying to hold back his tears any more, but he still didnt answer. Kevin decided hed had enough He could still die you know. He said bluntly. That got a reaction as the other man looked up sharply, his swollen blue eyes meeting Kevins green.
Brian. You have to tell me. Now.
