Chapter 19
Nick, AJ and Stormwind

"Why am I with you and Stormwind Aje?" Nick asked as they walked out of the palace grounds and towards the forest to meet Stormwind.
"Because you have the mage gift as well and Silence had to run an errand for Queen Savril" AJ said as they crossed the field with the horse companions.
Once in the forest they met Stormwind who led them to a secluded clearing in the forest "Now boys, we are going to start today's lesson with Mage Sight. You both have it and I'll teach you to use it" he told them motioning to them to sit down.
Nick plopped ungracefully onto the grass "What's Mage Sight?"
AJ folded his legs under him as he sat down next to Nick "Yes, what exactly is it?"
Stormwind leaned against one of the trees "Mage Sight is the ability to *see* magic in its purest form. You can see ley lines and power nodes and the magic that flows threw them or when something is bespelled you can see the magic put into it."
"Ummm..." Nick started.
"I get it" AJ said shooting Nick a glare "Come on blondie it isn't that hard to follow."
"I got it dumbass, I was just wondering what a node was" Nick said shoving AJ playfully.
"Dumbass! Why I outta..."
"Children! Can we start the lessons today perhaps?" Stormwind interrupted AJ's tirade.
"Sorry" Nick muttered.
"Yeah" AJ replied.
"Ok, well Mage sight is simple...let your eyes unfocus slightly and relax" Stormwind said looking at both of them with his Sight. Nick was a dim glow compared to AJ shinning like the morning sun. Around them he could also see the ley lines and nodes that were shinning through out the forest like an intricate spider web. He also noticed 4 lines branching off of Alex, one melded into Nick and the 3 others flowed off towards the palace. Two of them were just plain lines of magic but much to his surprise a shimmery, barely visible silver line of power drifted away from AJ off towards the palace grounds. 'Hmmm...the beginnings of a lifebond, neither of them are aware of it' he thought to himself pondering who Alex's mate could be.
Nick sighed; Mage Sight was cake walk he thought to himself as he looked at the forest around him. He turned to look at AJ and was blinded by the brilliance of power that encompassed his friend "Shit" he swore softly and turned away from AJ the brightness still burning in his *sight*.
AJ shifted in his seat trying to relax. Try as he might he just couldn't get his body or his mind to relax. He'd been tense ever since he woke up that morning. A feeling of dread had been hanging over him since they left the palace and only got worse when they passed the courtyard where Kevin and Jakara were practicing. 'Kevin' his mind pondered...'Why the fuck and I thinking about you? Why did I feel so comfortable with you on me? Think other thoughts Alex...ahhh...relax that's the key...Relax my ass' he thought to himself hotly.
"Alexander, what is the matter?" Stormwind asked breaking into his silent rant.
"Nothing...I just can't relax" AJ muttered.
"For why?"
"Because...because...I don't know! All I know is that I feel like something really bad is gonna happen soon and it's driving me crazy!" he cried throwing his hands in the air.
"But Aje, Brian sees the future not you" Nick put in.
"Shut up Nick!"
"Blow me" Nick spat in reply.
"Naw...sorry Nicky boy but you aren't my type."
"Yeah I'm not tall dark and handsome" Nick muttered softly.
"Excuse me" AJ yelled shoving Nick hard.
"Stop it!" Stormwind cried causing both of them to freeze "AJ relax...you need to calm down. Nick, you shouldn't rile him up like that" he said to both of them "Now apologize."
"Sorry" Nick said softly.
"Me too" AJ replied.
"I didn't mean..." he stopped mid-sentence and clamped his hands over his ears "AHH...Kevin" he moaned. He could hear Kevin and Jakara screaming inside he head as if they were standing next to him. "Screaming...help...stop..." Nick stammered. Stormwind quickly shielded the boy from the mindspeech that was pounding his head. "Kevin and Jakara are in trouble" Nick yelled getting up.
AJ jumped to his feet and sprinted towards the palace grounds, that feeling of dread from before multiplied 100 fold and a pit was forming in the bottom of his stomach. "I knew it" he yelled back at Nick, who was right behind him. If anything happens to Kevy...he thoughts were interrupted by Nick.
Nick nodded 'they're in pain Aje, I can hear them screaming. We gotta hurry!!!' he told AJ mind to mind. 'Hold on Kevy, we're coming' he called out to his friend, hoping that those words would bring something of a reassurance to his older 'brother'.
