Chapter 18
Brian and Kida

Brian met Kida in Marigold's Field shortly after breakfast "Good morning Kida, what are we doing today?" he asked.
Kida looked up at him from her seat on the ground and smiled "Well I figured you and Mythos would accompany myself and Tela out on a ride through the forests around the field, there is a clearing there that will be perfect for our lessons."
Brian nodded "Sounds good to me" he said to her. 'Hey Myth, come on, lets go for a ride.'
Mythos came trotting up a few moments later 'I thought you'd never ask. Mornin' Kida, Tela will be along shortly.'
"Thank you Mythos" she replied rubbing his flank lovingly.
After their short ride through the forest they arrived at the clearing. It was a perfect circle covered in soft moss. The circle was lined with tall oaks trees and between the massive trees were bushes of lilac. There were four entrances to the circle, one for each cardinal direction.
Brian looked around as he followed Kida through the east entrance "It's beautiful. Where did it come from?" he asked taking in the beauty of the circle.
Kida smiled "No one knows, but it has been here since...well since before things were recorded. Anyways, get settled in a comfortable position and we'll start the lessons" she said sitting down Indian style and motioning for him to do the same.
Brian seated himself identical to her and nodded "Comfort, check. What are we doing first Foresight or Farsight?"
"Farsight, but first we have to get you grounded. Have you ever meditated before?" she asked started to take measured breaths. Brian nodded "Good, start out like that, breath in counts of four and feel yourself falling into your center" she said in time with her breaths. She looked at him through her *inner* sight and could see he'd found it and was properly imbedded in his center. She nodded at Mythos who promptly shoved him mentally. He wavered slightly but did not stray from his center. 'Very good Brian' she commented.
'Mythos HIT me' Brian whined.
'He was supposed to. It was a test to see if you grounded properly. You passed. See when you are here it is very ease to Farsee. Foresight is not controllable. It will come as it wills. But you yourself have to farsee' she said softly in his mind.
'Ok, so how do I farsee?' Brian asked eager to learn.
Kida smiled at his eagerness 'Ok, come out of your trance. It is easier for me to talk to you through normal speech as neither of us is very good at mindspeech' she said gently pulling out of her trance.
Brian reluctantly pulled out of his trance and opened his eyes "That was way cool. So ok I'm out of my trance. How do I farsee?" he asked quickly.
"Ok first off, patience is a virtue. Learn it and live it Brian" she said with a laugh. "But on to farseeing. First of you have to know where you are looking for. We'll try it first with the stone courtyard. You saw it yesterday when I gave you a tour of the grounds right?" Brian nodded and she continued. "What you need to do is form a mental picture of that place in your mind and let your mind roam to that place and then you'll be able to see it and what's going on there at that point in time. Sometimes you can do it without trancing, but it is very hard and takes a lot of energy to do it that way. So you think you can do it?" she asked with a grin.
Brian's response was dropping back into his trance quickly and forming the vision of the stone courtyard in his mind. He then opened his mind and could feel it traveling back through the forest and across Marigold's Field and to the courtyard. All of a sudden it was like he was standing there, seeing everything that was going on like he was actually there.
He saw Jakara and Kevin standing there, her pointing to a stone on the ground and Kevin's face, a mask of concentration moments before the stone went up in flames. He saw Jakara grin and say something, probably a compliment from the way Kevin's face lit up. Then he saw her look up into the sky and point, seconds later a large falcon came swooping down to land on Jakara's shoulder dropping a piece of paper tied with what he thought looked like a frayed ribbon. Kevin walked over to look at the paper and as he and Jakara grabbed the ends of the 'ribbon' they collapsed to ground and Brian could faintly *hear* Kevin screaming a call for help.
He fled back to his body as fast as he could. He opened his eyes wearily "Kida, Jakara and Kevin need help. They collapsed" he said rising quickly to his feet and mounting Mythos "Come on Myth, we gotta get to Kevy and Jakara" he said hurriedly.
"Go, I'll catch up" Kida told them rising as well and calling for Tela.
