Chapter 11
Nick, Trouble and Kyree

Nick sighed idly rubbing Mythos's flank "I think I'm going to go take a walk" he said walking away from Brian and AJ.
'The Healwolves are in the forest with the firecats laddie, I think you'll find em' most interesting that you will' Mythos told him privately as he started along the path leading to the forested area.
"I hope he's ok" Brian sighed.
"Ditto" AJ replied.
'Aye now don't you two fret now ya hear, Nick will be fine. He just needs some time to adjust to things.'
"You think so Mythos?" AJ asked.
'Aye that I do lad...that I do. A walk in the forest will do him good.'
Nick walked along the path leading through the forest. He saw Kevin talking to a cat and watched the cat rub up against him. He was close enough to pick up on the cats comment "Flames-fer-brains" he chuckled softly. When he saw Kevin turn around on the path he quickly cut through the dense trees trying to avoid him. He didn't want to talk to anyone right now; he just wanted to think about things. "I'm in a new world with strange powers" he said out loud to himself. He was just walking along not paying attention to the ground in front of him when he tripped over a large jutting tree root "Oh hellfire" he muttered as he face planted the ground. He felt his ankle twist and knew he hurt something. "Great, like things could get any worse" he said sighing. Suddenly a wolf like creature came trotting up to him. "Umm...hi..." he stammered.
The wolf looked down at him with eyes of blue-grey that seemed to shimmer with a light of there own. 'You are hurt stranger' he said walking over to Nick and sniffing his ankle.
"Yeah, I think I twisted my ankle."
The wolf sat down in front of Nick and gently placed a paw on his ankle. He hummed a bit and closed his eyes in concentration 'Your ankle muscles are stretched. I can fix this in a moment' he told Nick soothingly.
Nick relaxed as he felt sudden warmth in his ankle and he could see a light seemingly floating from the wolf's paw to his ankle. A moment later the pain and tension in his ankle was reduced to nothing. "Umm...thank you" he said rotating his ankle a bit before rising to his feet. "I'm Nickolas...just call me Nick."
'You may call me Kyree.'
Are you one of those healwolves?" Nick asked.
'Yes, but don't believe the rumors you may hear, we are all wolf, we just have a human intelligence and healing capabilities' Kyree said nodding his head a bit. 'So why are you wandering aimlessly around our forestry area?'
Nick shrugged "I just needed to get away to think. Last night I was asleep in a bus on my way to Chicago and now I'm in a land called Valhala and I have this weird ability to communicate to people by saying it in my head and I can hear it when other people are doing it even if they are shielded or whatever that is. Also Jakara mentioned something about a mage gift as well and I don't even know what the hell a mage is!" Nick finished in a cry. He sat down hard on the ground "And now I'm babbling to a wolf that just headed my twisted ankle."
Kyree laughed in his mind 'I know you are somewhat upset or frightened by your experience so far. I know you are one of the ones that crossed the dimensional portal the other night. You have always had these gifts Nickolas; they have just lain dormant inside of you for whatever reason. Maybe you're world has forgotten magicks like that. Even so, from what you just told me you have the strongest mindspeech gift anyone has seen for many, many years. And a mage is someone who has control of natural energies...the most common are earth mages, most mages are earth mages, so common that they are just referred to as mages...fire mages are more commonly known as firestarters now. And there hasn't been a reported air or water mage in over two thousand years. You are special Nickolas, you and your friends are hear for a reason.'
"I don't see what is so special about me" Nick replied. Suddenly he felt a calm come over him, like he felt when he was sailing in the ocean, as he felt it fleeting he jumped after it, willing it to stay, when it did he sighed in relief.
'You are my chosen Nickolas, you have answered my call. Forever more we will be bound as soul brothers. I will always be with you no matter what' Kyree said walking over to Nick and licking his face. 'Does that make you happier?'
Nick smiled "Actually...yes it does. Come on Kyree, let's go back to the others" he said getting up and walking towards the path.
'After you chosen' Kyree commented following him.
