Unchaining my Heart
Chapter 4
-Brian-
As the bus moved through town, I glanced at my watch,
reading 11:35. I
glanced out the window, watching the cars move by and
people on bicycles
riding along the road.
I then flipped through the booklet that Monica, one
of our other tour
guides, handed us, wanting to know something new. On each
page, there was a
division. On the top half of the page would be our schedule
for the day and
on the bottom half were some Chinese words with the English
translations
beside them.
As I continued to look through the booklet, Kevin came
passing by,
handing everyone a water bottle, since their water supply
wasn't all that
great. Then they were nice enough to give us some bananas
that we could eat
during the tour.
"Good morning, you guys," Monica greeted us. My
attention turned to her,
a microphone in hand, and hanging on to a metal pole for
balance. "Are you
excited?" Everyone, including myself all at once, showing
how excited we
were. "Well, we'll start out with our lessons."
Once we were through with our lessons, we were free to
talk. I can hear
Nick's music blaring through his headphones. Glancing over
to where he sat,
which was across the aisle from where Alex and I sat. He
was mouthing the
lyrics while moving his head to the beat. I shook my head,
a smile plastered
on my face. I can hear Howie and Frank talking in the seats
in front of us,
probably talking about business.
My gaze then fell to Alex, who was looking through the
booklet. He looks
so cute, wearing all black, including his cap, which was on
backwards. His
black shades covered his eyes and I don't see why he has to
cover his
beautiful brown eyes, the ones that would make my knees
buckle and make me
feel weak inside. He already turns me on and I have to
control my urge of
grabbing him and kiss him on those soft lips.
I don't want to make a fool out of myself and let the
guys know that
we're together that way. It's not like that I don't want
them to know, but
I'm just not ready to face them yet. I shifted in my seat
as I glanced out
the window, lost in thought and trying to get my mind off
of Alex. This is
going to be a long day.
-AJ-
I could feel his eyes on me as I flipped through the
book where it
contained our schedule and lessons. I put the booklet into
the pouch where
you could place your belongings in and turned to Brian, who
quickly turned
away, turning his attention to the outside world. He's
trying not to be
obvious. I can tell, sense it.
Secretly, I reached out for his hand and took hold of
it, giving it a
squeeze. He turned his attention to me, then looked down at
our hands locked
together, and back up. My eyes locked with his, seeing the
love in those
beautiful blue eyes. Whenever I look into his eyes, I get
lost in them. "Are
you okay?" I had to ask.
"Yeah, I'm okay," he replies nervously, looking down at
our hands once
again. I smiled as he squeezes my hand and I feel like I'm
the luckiest man
alive.
-Nick-
I glanced over to where AJ and Brian sat, seeing the
way they looked at
each other. There was something in Brian's eyes that I've
never seen. It
looks like...love. Nah, that can't be. AJ...well, I know
he's been in love with
my best friend for the last couple of years, but Brian...I
just don't know.
Okay, I'm confused and when I get confused, I intend on
having a
headache. And if I don't shut this music, I might end up
having a terrible
headache and that's not how you start a day!
I shut my music off as I glanced back at my two friends
and something
caught my attention. I noticed that the two were holding
hands. Well, at
least I know that they're together now and I've never seen
them so happy
before, especially with Brian.
When he was with Leighanne, he was happy, but felt like
something was
missing in his life, which got me confused. But now seeing
those two together
makes me understand. All I want is the best for my friends
and I would
support them no matter what. For the last nine years, the
guys have always
been there for me and I look up to them. They're my big
brothers.
They're still holding hands and I couldn't help but
smile. They probably
don't have a clue that I know about them, which is really
amusing. Who needs
soap opera when you have it in front of you? I want to talk
to them, probably
sometime today. Well, the bus is coming to a stop right
now. Time to have
some fun and take pictures! AJ and Brian can wait.
-AJ-
My thoughts were interrupted when I felt the bus jerk
to a stop. I
glanced out the window, seeing nothing but the mountains.
Confused, I leaned
forward to ask Frank a question. "Um...Frank? Where are
we?"
"We're here at the Ming Tombs," he replied. "This is
where 13 emperors
were buried in a complex that spreads about 15 square
miles. As we go down
the road of the Ming Tombs, there will be 12 statues of
some animals and four
or five warrior statues as well. Now let's get going."
After this, he stood
up, Howie soon following behind.
Once we were out of the bus, the chilly wind blew onto
us. "Okay, now,
we're going to be arriving at the entrance of the Ming
Tombs," Frank
informed. "Follow the red flag." He held the flag up and
walked towards the
main entrance. I'm guessing that the flag is supposed to be
a guide so we
wouldn't get so lost or something. I've seen tour guides
earlier as we were
on our way here, and they were carrying flags as well. I
shrugged and we all
followed Frank and Monica to the entrance.
