The foils are very easy to use. Just remember to always have the shiny coloured side up - the dull side is the side to make contact with the adhesive. They come in a vast array of colours and patterns, from pastels and pearls through to bright metallic and laser designs. Some are solid colours others are patterns.
Foils are available direct from me for $3.00 per A5 sheet or equivalent.I have one of the largest range of Foils in Australia. Adhesives and Jac paper also available.
Adhesives&Borders You can use several different glues and/or tapes are necessary for foiling, depending on the look you want (flat, raised, etc.) Jones Tones, hot glue gun and utee give a 3D look. Embossing Powder and Sailor Ball glue pens give a smaller raised effects. Double sided tape (dst) & Jac papers give another effect. My overall favs would have to be Jac paper and the glue pen. I have dst in widths from 3mm, 6mm, 9mm and 50mm. To ensure good usage with Sailor Ball glue pens remember that a) The pen is vacuum-sealed. The way to get the glue flowing is pump it. What I mean is that you need to pop the lid off and on some 20 times to build up pressure within the pen. b) Always test the pen on a scrap paper/card first as you need to get rid of the tiny air bubbles and to make sure the pen is flowing well. c) You must be patient and wait until the glue is dry i.e. tacky, usually meaning the blue colour has changed to clear. The time required depends on atmospheric conditions, moisture content of paper, absorbency of paper and the amount of glue you put down. I have often glued up the designs one night and come back to foil them the next night. I have heard you could leave the glue to dry for a year in a dust free environment and it should still be tacky. Just be patient. d) When you have finished gluing, just wipe any build up off the ball tip.I have used about 10 or so pens and always down to the last drop just about. (the last few drops tend to have lots of bubbles but other than that they work terrific). I cant say about other glue pens, as I havent used them. I wanted the control of a ball tip more than the broader chisel tips.
