Yr 12 ANCIENT HISTORY
Course Description

In the HSC course, students use archaeological and written evidence to investigate a personality from the ancient world plus an ancient society and a historical period, and a choice of another historical period or a society drawn from at least two of the following geographic areas:  Egypt, Near East, Greece and Rome. 
These topics may include : Akhenaten, Alexander the Great, Amenhotep III to the death of Ramses II, Spartan Society.

Part I: Personalities in Their Times � one personality to be studied from the Personality options offered in the syllabus: (25%)� Part II: Ancient Societies � one Ancient Society to be studied from the Ancient Societies options offered in the syllabus: (25%)� Part III: Historical Periods � one Historical Period to be studied from the Historical Periods options offered in the syllabus:  (25%)� Part IV: One other Ancient Society or one other Historical Period � to be studied from the relevant options offered in the syllabus: (25%)

Students must make their selections in the HSC course from at least two of the following areas: Egypt, Near East, Greece and Rome.
