~About
MacLagan~
When
I was a little girl, my grandmother, born in Scotland, gave me a silver
figure of a toonie dog she brought back from a visit home. From then
on shelties held a special place in my heart. I purchased my first
one in 1983 as a pet for my children, after reading that the breed is excellent
with children, but she came with strings attached. Less than a year
later my family was moving from the Catskills to the Rockies, and me with
a bitch in whelp! We arrived, got used to a new way of life and the
altitude. Then pups came under my feet and after meeting some of
the wonderful show people, I was hooked on the confirmation ring.
After seeing CH. Banchory Thousands Cheered and CH Banchory In Dress Blues,
all I wanted was a beautiful blue merle.
A year
later Misty, Maramet Blue Mist II, a line bred Backstop bitch came to stay.
A breeding to Ch Argyll As You Like It produced my Cindy, Freckles mother.
So here
I am with sable and blue shelties, a kennel named for my grandmother a
champion that was originally called Alexandria, after the same wee sweet
lady that loved to read tea leaves and play cards. My life is so
enriched by these elegant sturdy dogs. Now we live on five acres
about 10 miles outside Colorado Springs at the foot of one of the most
famous mountains in the country. The boys are all grown and on their
own with memories of pups and dogs herding them in the backyard.
Many things are coincidences in life, but owning and raising shelties was
my destiny.
