The Journey Begins
It all started when my Aunt Jane gave me a copy of a
lineage booklet that she had put together that started with
my 5G Grandfather George Ritchie. There wasn't any details
on him, just a list of the children and from there my 4G
Grandfather Aaron and a list of his children, then my 3G
Grandfather Solomon Monroe. It's at this point where the
basic details began. For the most, part, the booklet only
contained names, marriage, birth, and death dates in a
Waterfall style format. As far as I can tell this booklet
has not been updated since 1994.

A Fresh Start
I wanted to update the lineage booklet and pass it out to
my family for Christmas several years ago, but I need a
computer program that would allow me to do this. I started
searching for programs that allowed me to enter, organize
and publish this information. The first program was
Family Gathering, I thought I had found what I've
been looking for; I could even create webpages "a big plus
and that was in 1996". Only one problem, the program kept
crashing or locking up. So, back on the trail to find
another program. Since shareware was abundant and you don't
have to buy it if you don't like it I tried several
different programs until I found
Reunion.
Simple, for the most part but it didn't have the features I
needed until version 7. I've yet to upgrade to this version.
I have uploaded my gedcom file to
RootsWed.com and you
can search through the surnames to see if your family is
linked to mine. NOTE: This is a work in progress; so it's
not complete.
