What makes a name great? Is it the meaning behind it or the person who owns it?

Throughout history, people have been driven to make a great name for themselves by power, wealth, or knowledge. While many people have failed in this quest, some have succeeded in that we still know their names today.

However, what really makes one's name great? Certainly one's family name, history, and names with a title of expertise like a doctor or researcher carry authority and can make one's name even greater. However, people usually only trust a surgeon who not only has M.D. creditials, but also a high surgery success rate. As a result, both a person's actual name and how that person lives his or her life determines what makes a name great.

So who do you think has the greatest name of all? No, it�s not some superstar or athlete. It�s God.
As creator and sustainer of all life, ruler and judge over all, it is a given that He has the most authority of all in His name.

But also, His name is the greatest because He has proven that He is who He says He is: Almighty God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, Holy, Righteous, Mercyful, Loving, Ruler and Judge of all mankind.
How? Just look around, at His command the rain falls on the "righteous" and the evil; the earth and the universe point to an all powerful Creator, not chance; and every man has a sense of right and wrong, plus a foreboding fear of death. He has also proven that He loves us enough to send his only son to live a perfect life for us and take our punishment by dying a horrific death on a cross for us.

Although there are not enough adjectives in the universe to even begin to describe Him, here are a few names that describe some of His character.
