Macau has fairly updated infrastructure. Macau's road network is continuously improved and there are over 31 miles of roads. A third highway is being proposed to link Macau with Taipa. Although space is rather scarce in Macau, newer areas are being developed with wider roads and more green spaces.

The airport accommodates 747's and transpacific flights to Los Angeles. There is also helicopter service available. The new Macao Container Port opened in 1991 and offers a crucial link between China and the world. Macau's new Ferry Terminal handles 30 Million passengers per year with ready access to Hong Kong and mainland China

Telecommunications are fairly modern and Internet readiness is high. The government is
actively promoting private investments in the mobile phones service. FDI in the telecom
sector remains low but the government offers fiscal and financial incentives. Included are
interest and direct subsidies. Macau's  media is well developed and includes 17 newspapers, six radio stations and 2 TV channels.

Macau's Health Care is comparable to that of more developed countries. Public Health
Care expenditures are about 9% of the government budget. The Doctor - Patient ratio is roughly 1 to 439.

Macau higher education includes the Institute of Tourism Education and the International
Institute of Software Technology of University of the United Nations. Macau offers financial  support to the International Open University of Asia and other colleges.
