The McNally Anime Club, otherwise known as M.A.C. or MAC, started in March 2000 in light that much of the school's students were into the Anime sub-culture that was beginning to sprout up in the art room and in many other academic classes. Many of the teachers liked the art work that was being done, but too much class time was being devoted to the hobby and not enough on school work. As the President saw throughout the school and in the school library many students came to school with blank paper and pencils, not for taking notes with, but for drawing anime characters and other dojinshi art work... After joining the DOA (Dedicated Otaku Anime) Club at
the Univeristy, Paul Kiemele (Plutopia) thought it a good idea to start a club at the school, in the hopes to help the "Otaku" student population of the school to get their fix of anime and to try to help their grades and their attention in class. Officially MAC started out as a Lunch time get together with two other students, who were also in art to help design a anime style poster for a local contest. Here they watched several anime to help with ideas and to get through the long lunch hours. With Grade 12 graduation slowly approaching Plutopia, had to find a successor to the Anime Club President
Position and to find a Mascot for the club Logo. In April, Loren Wilson was to winner of the Mascot contest and later on received the position of the New MAC President.
Basically to sum it up. MAC is a free lunch time program open to the students of Bishop McNally High School who wish to spend their lunch time watching cool never before seen
anime. Starting in the new 2000-2001 school year, we will be introducing the MAC Card, which will cost $1.00 to obtain, and will give the barer a 10% discount
off of any Anime/Manga merchandise at Words and Pictures, MAC's new sponsor.
