Through e-mail correspondence, we were able to set up a date for a grand reunion in Los Angeles, California, USA, on April 6, 2001. This reunion was attended by old friends and schoolmates who are now based in different parts of the world (Australia, Canada, and from different states in the USA). It was a magical moment when old friends of long ago finally met in person. A lot of physical changes were noticed, but for that one brief moment in time, it seemed like time stood still, and we were never apart. We were transported back in time to the years when we were 12, 13, 14, and 15 years old again!!!!! It was a joyous occasion with a lot of hugging, screaming, and some tears of joy.Prior to the grand reunion in Los Angeles, there was also a reunion last October, 2000 at the Kamayan Restaurant in Manila, Philippines. That reunion was attended by our old friends and former schoolmates who were based in the Philippines. During that reunion, the Friends of Bislig Association (FOB) was formed, and most of us are now members of that association. The current association president/vice president are Mario Buenaventura and Bobby Kanapi who are both currently based in Manila, Philippines.From that innocuous little barrio of Mangagoy in Bislig, Surigao del Sur, Philippines, we have traveled the world and settled in different continents and countries, but still, Mangagoy remained in our hearts. Fond memories of childhood and great friendships forged under the steaming heat of the tropical sun in our dusty, little barrio of Mangagoy had withstood the test of time and distance. Mangagoy, Bislig, Surigao del Sur, Philippines, was the paradise of our youth and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.To our visitors, welcome to our world... |
are a group of people
whose lives came together during the mid 1960's to the mid 1970's
in Mangagoy, Bislig, Surigao del Sur, Philippines. Most of our
parents were affiliated with Bislig Bay Lumber Company and PICOP
(the two major industries of the town). Some of us were former
classmates from St. Margaret Mary School, Andres Soriano High
School, and John Bosco School. A lot of us were very good friends
then, and through the magic of cyberspace have found each other
again to renew old friendships through e-mail. This modern technology
has certainly been a blessing to us all!
