Zhaan is a Delvian Priestess, a blue humanoid creature, who is in fact a highly evolved plant. She follows the Delvian seek, and early on in her time aboard Moya she was a 9th level Pa'u, but when she learns the ability to defend (in Rhapsody In Blue), she becomes a Priest of the 10th level. As a Priest, she tries to watch over the other crew, and tend to medical needs. However, after her lengthy time in prison, she is less than helpful towards Aeryn, the Peacekeeper who would have once been one of her captors.

Despite this flaw, many seem to respect her as a Priest, despite her crime of the past. She killed her lover, as she was part of a revolution to throw out the Peacekeepers from the Delvian homeworld, where as her lover was a leader with significant influence in the other direction, welcoming the Peacekeepers to stay. During her time as a prisoner, she learned to quell the tremendous anger within her, controlling the emotional outbursts whenever possible.

She falls in love with fellow spiritual being, Stark, but this relationship is cut short when she sacrifices herself to save Aeryn Sun and then the rest of the crew aboard Moya in the episode Wait For The Wheel. After this, she made only a brief appearence in the computer game world found in John Quixote.
