Played by Duncan Young, Staleek is the Emperor of the Scarrens, the supreme leader responsible for the current push towards Peacekeeper occupied space. Wearing majestic red clothing that in some ways mimics the Crysenthium petals the Scarrens eat, and standing far taller than any sebacean, Staleek is an imposing figure, and one who commands much authority amongst his people, including the loyal Jenek, the captain who almost managed to bring Crichton's child to the Emperor during the episode Fetal Attraction. Crichton's 'decision' to mess with the guy is certainly a bad one, but in the end things pay off for Crichton, thanks to the bomb attack in La Bomba. Staleek's base is left in tatters, and the crysenthium flowers are destroyed. Without this, the Scarrens are powerless to continue their push towards Peacekeeper space.
Several decisions the Emperor makes during the final episodes of Season 4 severely weaken his position in the eyes of his underling, third in command, Ahkna, leaving a crack in his leadership position, but one he is well in control of as Ahkna's blunders are far greater. Leaving Ahkna in charge of the Charrid allies was a smart move as they are quick to make hot-headed mistakes. Overall, he is a supremely powerful leader, but thanks to Crichton's intervention, things start to fall apart on all fronts. One thing that has to be said though is that he doesn't seem all that evil. I'm sure he has been behind some dreadful battles, but in these episodes, he seemed like a fair leader, and one who had great honour and courage.
