Why is it so hard being a weather reporter?

A very useful example of the effect of chaos on everyday life, is weather prediction. Weather patterns exhibit chaotic tendencies and as a result, forecasts are never totally accurate, and long-term forecasts, even for one week, can be totally wrong. This is due to minor disturbances in areas such as airflow and solar heating. Each disturbance may be minor, but the change it creates will increase geometrically with time. Soon, the weather will be far different than what was expected.
