• Tk Appbar - A long time ago, I used TkDesk and liked the configurable application bar. I wrote my own, and developed it considerably over time. This uses some MS Windows-specific code (dde package, and some executables), but nothing that can't be removed easily or replaced for *nix systems. Features include: an Xload-like utility, a drive browsing menu (written before Win2k added the ability to open folders from the start menu), a menu of windows, by application (gives the ability to hide all windows of an application, raise a specific window to the top of the stack, etc.), a 'recent items' menu, a 'favorites' menu, a fully-configurable configuration file, the ability to float the appbar above all other windows, and the ability to 'dock' the appbar along any edge of the screen (and automatically update the usable screen area, so that maximized windows will not be partially-hidden beneath appbar).

• export postscript - I use Xfig a bit, and have had difficulties with its PostScript format, so I often generate output in Tk format (a single canvas widget with the drawing on it). Use this to open such canvas tk files and export them to PostScript.

• freewrap my icons - An absolutely filthy hack that takes Windows ico files and brute-force replaces the compiled-in icons in FreeWrap with those given. The end result is that the 'Wrapped application uses the replacement icons for everything. Only tested with FreeWrap version 4.4.

• WinTree This is a utility for browsing all of the windows on a Windows machine, including sub-windows, and for sending events to them. Uses Tree.tcl to give a borwsable hierarchy of all window widgets, visible or hidden, on the Windows OS system. Answers the eternal question: &quopt;how can I send keystrokes to an application?" Having spyxx.exe from an MS dev kit will help, as you can determine which window normally receives events. Includes a nifty "type in this window to send your keystrokes to another program." feature. Contains a mapping of Tk key event bindings to Windows Message values compiled on a US keyboard Win2k installation. Of course, extended keys may not work very well, and other kayboard layouts may not work at all, but it's a start. Requires winlist.exe (for listing all visible and invisible windows on the system), getwindow.exe (for getting the name of windows, and lists of child windows, modk.exe (for grabbing current state of Shift, Control, and Alt keys), and sendev.exe (for sending any generic Message event to any window) -- all available under C Code.
