Web Review Assignment Instructions

1. Determine the subject of the web reviews. Then fill out a Web Review Application in order to get the subject approved by the teacher. |
| 2. Go to my web page (http://geocities.com/m_runyon_85937/webpage/homepage.htm) |
| 3. Click on the Extra Credit Opportunities link for your class and go to the "Educational Improvement" link. |
| 4. Select one of the approved skills listed on the page (example: "note taking"). |
| 5. Go to several of the sites linked to that skill to the right of the skill name and select a few that look promising. |
| 6. Study the material at those sites in order to learn how to improve your ability with that skill. |
| 7. Write up a comparative review of the sites chosen. Use the guidelines listed in #9. |
| 8. You will receive up to 50 points each quarter for any web reviews that you write. How much extra credit you receive will depend upon many factors such as the size of the site, the quality of the review, and the number of sites compared. |
| 9. Guidelines for web reviews:
a. Review must be typed and in proper MLA format. Reviewer's name and date must be included. b. Minimum of two pages. c. Information to include: How readable is the site? How easy is it to understand the concepts? How suitable is the site for a high school student? What useful information did you learn which you didn't know before? What useful attitudes did you learn which you didn't have before? Other factors that you believe are relevant, such as suggestions for how the site could be improved. |
