Marit Elizabeth Larsen was born in Norway on July 1st, 1983. As a child, she was very talented and showed a lot of interest in music. When she was six, she met her neighbor at that time and now, her best friend, Marion Elise Ravn, who was born on May 25th, 1984. She also loved music so the girls started to be best friends quickly. As children, the girls recorded an album, all songs in Norwegian. At age of thirteen, Marit received a guitar for Christmas. She fell in love with the guitar and started learning how to play it. Later, Marit and Marion became M2M.
In 2000, they released their first album as M2M, called "Shades Of Purple", and the single was called "Don't Say You Love Me". The song was in the Pokemon the First Movie Soundtrack, and soon they became famous all around the world. Shades Of Purple was full of mature songs, and the girls' sweet voices were soon noticed. Young teenagers, adults and children, all loved them. Mirror Mirror, the next single, had a great success too. The Day You Went Away was one of the next singles and is one of the songs most loved by their fans. Everything You Do and Pretty Boy, one of the sweetest songs in the album, also turned into hits quickly, making Shades Of Purple a really successful album.
In 2002, they released their second album, "The Big Room". The first single was called "Everything". That song was really well known around the world but The Big Room didn't turn into a successful album. The second single was "What You Do About Me", a great song, though it wasn't really successful. The girls made a tour with the well known artist Jewel, but it didn't go as good as expected. In the middle of the tour, the girls decided that it was better to split up and begin their solo careers. Obviously, their fans didn't like the news.
After the split up, they released their last album together, "M2M The Day You Went Away, The Greatest Hits". It included all their greatest hits, like Everything You Do, The Day You Went Away, Mirror Mirror, Don't Say You Love Me, Wanna Be Where You Are, Everything, What You Do About Me, Jennifer, Don't, and some new songs too, like Not To Me, Is You and Wait for Me. There are also different versions of some songs, like Pretty Boy (Mandarin Version) and Todo Lo Que Haces (Everything You Do in Spanish). This album was a great success.
