Journal Page Fall 2004
October 29, 2004 - Ugh!  Delays and more delays.  I started stripping the aluminum wheels...2 are real Enkei Model 92's...2 are not.  The paint used to make them match covered up finish differences.  They don't look that much alike when stripped.  Nothing else done.

Sorry, no pics of this...the true Enkei brand wheels have a machined finish across the surface of the mesh "spokes", while the "clone" Enkei's were a cast finish and also did not have the Enkei symbol on the back.  Otherwise they are difficult to tell apart.  You could probably machine the clones to match the real Enkei's.

This "mesh" design was incredibly popular from the late-70's to the mid-80's.  So far I have pictures of similar wheels from Ansen, Appliance, BBS, Ford, Riken, Sendel, and Shelby.  This design was a factory wheel on the BMW 3 Series, and were popular aftermarket wheels on everything from Datsun 510's, Datsun 240Z's, and the mid-80's Mustangs.  At least I'm nearly period correct!  ;-)
