| Peace was pretty much stable until 2365, when word came of a Continent to the east called Crystalia, in which a Civil War erupted. The Gryphon Warlords, whom would come to be hated over the world, had overthrown the rulers of the Crystal Kingdom. All were believed dead, but tensions in Hylia and aHalyia lowered when the Warlords informed them via messanger that they did not seek further conquest, and only wanted to be left alone. After several months, fighting halted in Crystalia, and the Warlords assumed Command. The Hylians would maintain watch on them for the next several years, but their attention was diverted to the west.
In 2370, a Hylian Ship was sunk off the coast of a continent to the west called Harotia. Over half the crew was killed. Hylia immediately established contact with the Harotian Crown Prince who was in the midst of a Civil War of his own. The Rebels denied contact, so the Hylians shipped aid to the Nationalist side. As tensions increased and Hylian Medical Units found themselves under attack, the Hylian Queen finally Declared War in September 2370. It would prove a deadly mistake. The first units to arrive in the Harotian Capitol of Blackstone immediately went into combat. The Succession War would last for 2 years, and thousands of troops would loose their lives at the hands of the Rebels. The Federation Liaison quickly advanced technology and Jet Fighters from the new advanced tactical wing criss-crossed the skies over Harotia. As a result of the advances made during this conflict, the Treaty of Hylia was amended at the conclusion of the war in 2372. In early 2375, an outpost near the boarder of Lostwolf Den was attacked by rogue agents. After fierce fighting between Milita Units and the rogues the commander of the Outpost, Kommissiar Jason Lee, called for reinforcements from another Outpost. One of the servents in the fortress was discovered to be the surviving member of the Windheart Family, the ruling family of the Crystal Kingdom, missing for 10 years. She proved her loyalty to the Kommissiar and the Republic, by assiting the Officers from the base in falling back to a new position as the Outpost was overrun, and destroyed. From his new Command Post, Kommissiar Lee ordered Air Strikes from Ju87 Stuka Dive Bombers and strafing runs from Me106G6 Fighter planes. The Rogues were defeated, and the Frontier was held. Kommissiar Lee and the woman, Amelthya Windheart, were ordered to the Darkangel Temple where they remained for a year. Kommissiar Lee was then promoted Prime Minister, as things began to escalate. Nobody knew that the Computer Core taken in 2361 had survived until 2376 when the Darkangel Rebels attacked for a third time. This time, they made it into the valley and threatened the Temple itself. The Militia quickly responded and the fighting was held outside the city. The Federation had their own problems with the Dominion, and amended the Treaty of Hylia again a year earlier, so the Darkangel Ruler was allowed to deal with it on her own. She quickly exterminated all resistance as a result of this conflict, but didnt know that the bulk of the problem was still to come, and that the entire world would suffer as a result. The Second Succession War, also known as the Great World War, officially began on November 27th, 2376 when the Gryphon Warlords launched a surprise Air Raid on Cape Sunset. An Air Raid on Diana Airbase, and then the Darkangel Temple itself quickly followed this attack. The Darkangels, being paranoid as they are, had allocated the bulk of their Military around Civilian and Strategic Targets to include the fledgling Navy Yard at Cape Sunset, Diana Airbase, and the cliffs overlooking the Valley. The Reason for the Attack is not really well known, but may be connected to the Darkangel Empress harboring the Heir to the Crystal Kingdom. An hour before the attack, a Gryphon Special Forces detachment attacked the Temple, making off with Amelthya Windheart. Gunfire followed their hasty withdrawal even as Air Raid Sirens began sounding. |
