| Dear Miss James and Kids in Australia,
How are you doing today? We got Kid Koala, we are printing it out, and we will decorate him tomorrow. Today, we are going to work with our new math centers. We are going to go to the library and bring Kid Koala with us. In our math centers, Kid Koala will work with a domino game, exchanging pennies for dimes and nickles, complete a shape penguin, and use tangrams for the first time. We are going to listen to a story called Grandfather Tang's Story. We have learned about polar animals and last week we learned about tigers and other Asian animals. This week, we are going to learn about your animals in Australia. Talk to you tomorrow! Mrs. Kirch and the AM kindergarten class Dear Miss James and the kids in Australia, Thank-you for Kid Koala! Mrs. Kirch and the PM Kindergarten Day 2 Today we read a book about Koalas. We learned that they have two thumbs! We decorated our koalas by coloring them showing what we have on today. You will see that we are wearing warm clothes because it is cold outside. It is 36 degrees outside. We wrote in our journals. We had centers today. In our centers we painted, matching games, played with plastic African animals and blocks, we made monkeys out of toilet paper rolls, and had an Asian marketplace! Wow! Kid Koala and our class sure were busy today! Bye! Today we learned about koalas. We found out that they have pouches. They also have two thumbs. We colored Kid Koala as us. We watched a movie about kangaroos. We studied the calendar and then had centers. Kid Koala and us had a very busy day! Day 3 Today we checked the job chart and practiced our reading. Some of us made monkeys. We played with the zoo animals in the block area. We read a book called What Do You Do With a Tail Like This? and wrote about koalas. We will send you our koala stories. It was exciting to see our news on the Internet! Thank-you for typing our letters! Looking forward to hearing from you on Monday! Day 4 Dear Miss James and Kids in Australia, Today we finally got to go out for recess. We have had very cold and snowy days so we have spent our recesses inside watching videos about animals in your country. But today, the temperature was about 45 degrees and most of the snow has melted. It was great to go outside!! Kid Koala sure enjoyed it too! Today, we also read about kangaroos. We made a Venn diagram comparing kangaroos with koalas. We found out that how different and similar they are. They both have pouches! We don't have animals like those but we do have cats, dogs, skunks, ducks, squirrels, mountain lions, wild horses, ants, snakes, pelicans, hawks, grasshoppers, blue jays, ladybugs, flies, lots of birds, coyotes, bears, bumblebees, butterflies, and many more! We live near a wetlands area and also near the Sierra mountains! Talk to you soon! Bye! Day 4 We are so glad to hear from you! It was exciting to see our news on the Internet! We did not write to you yesterday (Day 3) because we were so busy learning about kangaroos, and as a special treat, a mom showed us costumes they wear for Korean New Year! We also saw chopsticks. Have you ever eaten with chopsticks? It was hard for Kid Koala to use them because he has two thumbs!!! We feel like we have two thumbs when we use chopsticks!!! Today, we were excited to finally go outside to play because the weather was nice!!! Yea!!! Talk to you later! |
