Sketching is one of my favorite hobbies. I did these sketches using pen & ink on thick textured paper (bristol). All drawings are part of my personal collections. I usually travel to provinces to choose subjects for my drawings. The Bahay Kubo is just one of my favorite subjects. These sketches were made during the period of 1994-1996. I also love to do figure sketching and my usual subject is a human female nude figure. BAHAY
KUBO SERIES - One of my favorite subjects was the nipa hut houses
which is common in Philippine provinces. These types of houses
has one common characteristics, the Silong or the lower area.
The house itself is raised to give occupants a cool indoor atmosphere
as fresh air enters the silong. The building material for these
types of houses are dried grass and coco timber. Coconut is abundant
in Philippine soil.
