"I'm sorry." The scientist apologised and left the room.
Vegeta just sat there as Bulma cried into him, stunned into disbeleif. No other cure? But there had to be! He had been counting on it for the last week! It just couldn't not be there! THERE HAD TO BE! But he couldn't sheild himself from the truth for very long. He was going to leave Bulma alone for hte rest of her life, baring a wound that could take months, if not years, to heal. If it ever did.
And Kiyashi... She wasn;t even going to know that this had happened until she was dead and watching the world through Baba's crystal ball. A part of his mind wondered if she'd been expecting to die like this but it was too small a part to gain much notice. Death was what really clouded the prince's thoughts
You are going to die and there's nothing you can do about it.
How many times was it going to be that his fate wasn't held in his own hands? First his father, then Freiza, then... this. Worst of them all. He couldn't even train to eventually beat this, couldn't fight it and force it to back down. All he could do was sit heere and wait. And wait. And wait. And die.
A heavy shudder ran through his body, accompanied by a sense of defest, and Vegeta slid his silky tail around Bulma's waist. She patted it gently before continuing to sob into his shoulder, her greif so great she thought she would break. And he wasn't even dead yet! What would happen to her when he was really, truely gone? Would she hear voices in her head ordering her to do insane things? Would she end up jumping off a bridge into dirty water just to drown her pain and sorrow?
She leant back from Vegeta's chest, a strange feeling of de ja vou coming over her.
'Have I been crazy before or something?' She wondered.
And then it hit her, 'Hear voices in my head telling me to do insane things'... Things that didn't make sense but she did anyway...
"Vegeta." She whispered to him, "You have to last for the next two days."
