Chapter 16 : Not dreams, nightmares
'Okay, no evil haro... hara? Um, whatever, let's call them... Monsters. Monsters in sight. All I need to do is get over there and go a teeny tiny distance. Come on, you can do it Bulma...'
She slipped both feet slowly out of bed and wrapped her bathrobe around her shivering pyjama-clad shoulders.
'It's not that far...'
'Freiza! Leave my father alone! Ri haraorchi niy tharem...'
Vegeta sat bolt upright in bed, cold sweat making his chiselled muscles shine in the moonlight streaming through his window. He stayed where he was for a second before forcing his head back down onto the pillow. The prince had spent the entire day after the Harathokin attack training and needed rest. Now was not a good time to go off on another of his night trips. It was just a dream. He could ignore it.
'All right, let's get out of here!'
Closing her door behind her Bulma knocked quietly on that of Vegeta.
She blinked, 'How did he know it was me?' She wondered to herself.
As she stepped inside Vegeta sat up again in bed, propping himself up on his elbows. Bulma smiled when she saw him, feeling better already.
"What scared you?" He inquired after a second.
"I had a... Hey, wait! How did you know I was scared?" She had stopped shivering when she had knocked, how could he tell?
"And you can tell all that how...?"
"I can hear it. Now, what do you want me for?"
"I had a nightmare. I'm scared and I sorta wondered... Can I stay with you tonight?"
He regarded her quietly, coal black eyes calm. She could, couldn't she?
Vegeta nodded. "All right then, but don't hog the covers and don't blame me if your parents find us like this and your mother throws a fit again."
Bulma smiled as she slid down beside him, untangling the covers and snuggling up to his strong body. "Don't worry about that. My mother likes you now, you know. She thinks you're a hero from saving me twice."
"You'd better not kick, woman."
"You had better not. I'll never be beautiful again if you do."
Vegeta felt a slight smile tease his lips. "G'night, Bulma."
"G'night, Vegeta."
Bulma pushed herself away from Vegeta and stood up, mind working in overdrive. "What do we do now?" She hissed to him, "I've gotta get back in that room before she decides to wake me up personally!"
An evil smile tugged the corner of Vegeta's mouth. "I thought she wouldn't care about us being together." He reminded his sweating onna in a quiet voice, "Decided otherwise?"
"All right, all right woman!" He exclaimed, almost loud enough for Bunny to hear. "I'll get you over there."
Bulma smiled sweetly at him. "As long as you're happy..."
