Naval Construction Battalion
- The
43rd Naval Construction
Battalion, which since July 1944 has been carrying out
construction work under the cognizance of the District of
Public Works Officer, has now secured. The scope of their
work and facilities completed are as follows:
- Naval
Ammunition Depot West Loch
- Railroad.
- Paving.
- Additional
Housing Facilities.
- Miscellaneous
structures and utilities.
- Iroquois
Point-Advanced Base Reshipment Depot
- Aircraft
Storage Parking Area.
- Completion
of 43rd Camp Area.
- Miscellaneous
structures and facilities.
- Waipio
Peninsula
- Waterfront
Work.
- Reerection
of 60-ton Gantry Crane.
- Waiawa
Peninsula
- Earth
Dike.
- The
43rd Construction Battalion, as
indicated from the foregoing, has constructed a large
number of projects, many of which were complicated and
involved, during the short period of time they were under
the direction of the Public Works Officer. The way in
which this battalion has been able to "move into
high gear" on short notice and complete a project so
expeditiously, conclusively indicates good administrative
ability and an excellent construction organization. The
Public Works Officer wishes to congratulate all officers
and men who were concerned with the construction of these
various projects on the excellence of their work and the
manner in which the assignments were carried out.
