Challenge One � Points
In book 1, Ravenclaw had 426 points and Slytherin had 472. Write a story about Ravenclaw going from first in points to second. The story must include the Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw Quidditch match that Harry missed, a Shakespearian quote, and Professor Sinestra. Any teacher but Snape may take away the points.
Challenge Two - Drabble
A Drabble is a piece of fiction exactly one hundred words long. Write a Drabble from the point of view of a Ravenclaw about that character's reaction to Dumbledore's speech at the leaving feast in Book 4. Use only established characters and include the word reservation.
Challenge Three - First Ravenclaw
Write a story from the perspective of one of Rowena Raveclaw's first students. Include a fight between Slytherin and the other founders over something other than Muggle-born students, someone coming down with dragon pox and a new pureblood student who is not only illiterate but afraid of bathing. Give the characters as much historical accuracy as possible but have fun - especially when explaining the concept of indoor plumbing to new students!
Challenge Four - Ravenclaw Harry AU
What if Harry Potter had been a Ravenclaw? How would that impact his activities and choice of friends? Write a story starting from Harry's revised sorting, but remember: Harry cannot be anything more than an acquaintance of Ron, Hermione, or Draco. Susan Bones, Cho Chang, and Professor Flitwick must be prominent characters.
Challenge Five - Cho/Roger
Write a romance between Roger Davies and Cho Chang. Include Ravenclaw student Miss Fawcett, Sugar quills, a scarf getting caught on something, and the phrase "This is me we're talking about."
Challenge Six - Flitwick
Professor Flitwick was mentioned as having been a dueling champion. Write a story about how he came to be one.
Challenge Seven - Perspective
Rewrite the Leaving Feast from Book One from the perspective of either Cho Chang, Penelope Clearwater, Padma Patil, or Lisa Turpin. Include a romantic reminisce about Roger Davies, Harry Potter, or Percy Weasley.
Challenge Eight - Luna
Write a story focused on Luna Lovegood. It must include a Monty Python quote, a copy of The Quibbler, Ginny Weasley, and at least one conspiracy theory.
Challenge Nine - Christmas Story
Write a Christmas story set at Hogwarts before the time of Harry or the Marauders - basically anything pre-1970 is fair game. Include at least one of the following in a prominent role: a living Professor Binns, Rowena Ravenclaw, Sir Cadogen, the Grey Lady, Phineas Nigellus, the Fat Friar, Professor Dippet or Professor Marchbanks. The story must be from the point of view of an original character, contain at least one Kneazle and/or cat, have someone arguing with a painting, and mention a law involving reindeer. The story must be at least 500 words long.
Challenge Ten - Collage
Write a story using one of the following to start off a story:
- After Padma pried the cat off her jumper, she noticed the orange cat hairs on her front and sighed; it was going to be one of those days.
- "Who is this Murphy person anyway?"
- There were times Professor Flitwick loved teaching, then there were days he wished the parents of his students had never met.
- "Why are groups of owls called a 'peck'? Owls peck, they should not be a peck"
- Girls seemed to love the balcony overlooking the Ravenclaw Common room. Roger Davies had seen otherwise sensible witches pause there to chant 'Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?'
Challenge Eleven - Death Eater
Write a story about a Ravenclaw Death Eater. May be from any era in which the Death Eaters exist. Must include the Ravenclaw using at least two of the three Unforgivable Curses, an appearance/reference to Auror Alice Longbottom, and the line "Knowledge is power." Bonus points for Alice or Frank Longbottom using an Unforgivable Curse on a Death Eater, an appearance by Professor Flitwick, or a broadcast of 'The Witching Hour'.
Challenge Twelve - Marcus Belby
Write a story about Ravenclaw Marcus Belby. Reference at least one new spell or magical item mentioned during Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince and include at least one appearance by Luna Lovegood.
Challenge Thirteen - Departures
Write a story taking place after the death and betrayal in Half-blood Prince. Include appearances by Padma Patil, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, and Professor Flitwick. Feature Flitwick taking points off Ravenclaw, a lost watch, and at least one Hogwarts ghost. Bonus points for reaction to Draco Malfoy's leaving and Slughorn as acting head of Slytherin.
Challenge Fourteen - Leaving
Write a story set featuring that departure of the Patil twins from Hogwarts. Include curry, Exploding Snap, a quote from any Star Wars movie, and a mirror that won't show a reflection. Bonus points for including information from the Black family Tree.
Challenge Fifteen - First Line
Write a story set using one of the following sentences as the first line of the story:
Anthony Goldstein would never forget his first encounter with the Giant Squid.
She wasn't entirely certain how it happened, but Padma Patil accepted a dare to ask the Grey Lady how she died.
The old muggle game 'Twister' just wasn't the same when played by wizards.
Cho Chang had never seen a muggle film, though she had heard of them.
Challenge Sixteen - First Lines II
Write a story set using one of the following sentences as the first line of the story:
The Death Eater started to raise his wand and Penelope Clearwater let her training overtake her.
Padma Patil signed her letter; it was full of half-truths but she couldn't bring herself to be honest with Cho.
Dorcas Meadowes had no way of knowing that today was the last day she would ever see.
Terry Boot awoke to find an owl perched on his headboard.
