Lyrit
ABOUT LYRIT'S FURSUIT I started on Lyrit's plans in May 2004 and finished fursuiting her in October 2004 just in time for Halloween. It cost $88-$125, and it was hard work, but well worth it.

SKETCHES Pics used in planning Lyrit. | Just a quick sketch of an actual wolf. I got a clearer idea of lupine facial features after doing this. | |
 | I'm testing how well colors go here and the layout of what works well with Lyrit's face. | | This is where I finally start to plan out where things go in the fursuit. Pipe links were ORIGINALLY going to power the tail. Lyrit ORIGINALLY was only going to be blue, gray, and white. Lyrit ORIGINALLY wasn't going to sport wings. As you progress along in making a fursuit, you realize that you can make many improvements to it-after all, a first plan is only what the entire fursuit is loosely based on. ^-^ | | A sketch of Lyrit I did to test out how she would look. | | More sketches! I'm getting used to how the fursuit's going to look, and having fun at the same time. | | So, how exactly am I supposed to fit into this thing? Note that I don't draw digitigrade feet this time-I compared it to the other sketches, and decided then to add them to the fursuit. | |
 | Don't ask me about this one. I recently looked at it, and it seems pretty pointless. Pffft-Airhole? It's too obvious that's where I'm going to breathe. I don't know WHAT I was thinking when I did this one. Oh well, I stuck it here anyways for your entertainment. ^-^' | | I did this one MUCH later when I decided that Lyrit needed a logo for herself, and it was to dangle from her pendant. So after much debate, I finally chose it to look something like the one at the left-Yay. (No, you aren't allowed to use it anywhere without my consent-It's strictly copyrighted to me, remember? *Points at fine print at bottom of page*) |
 | Guess what Lyrit's eyes are made of? SUNGLASSES! I thought it up myself. ^-^ (Seemed much easier than cutting a spherical container in half, which is what most furries do to make their eyes.) The only disadvantages are that you can't see at night(Nope, sunglasses just turn darkness into more darkness) and that everything you DO see are red(Or is that an advantage? :K) | | OPEN WIDE! So this is how wolves can scarf everything up in one bite... Sounds like my eating habits. XD Here you can see a inner layer of blue cloth for my comfort against the bicycle helmet. (Yes, that's an old bicycle helmet-I started Lyrit's face by tying wire onto it...) | | A side view of Lyrit's head-Not much to say here. | | Front view of Lyrit's head. Looks like I had a bad hair day. And where did my bottom fangs go? | | A REALLY rare sight of the interior of the helmet-You can tell that it took much work to complete this. |
LYRIT'S WINGS For Lyrit's wings, I shaped wire into the likeness of a bird wing's top then hot glued the cloth onto the wire. After that, I covered the wire with black cloth, which is what seems to be the wing supporter. The white material in this first photo is velcro-I sewed and hot glued it to the wings and fursuit back so they can move up and down(Unfortunately, not without another person helping you.) The wire is extremely durable, and it slightly moves the wings back and forth just to look like they're in use when you walk. ^-^
A clear view of the wing front. You can see where the wire is covered by black.

WHAT IN THE WORLD?!...
Going out into the open on Halloween, everyone just has to have some comments about the strange werewolf walking down the street(Especially the little kids.) I find some of these shocks compliments quite fascinating. Here's what the public had to say to Lyrit Twilight! - Ooh, look! A wuff!
- Ooh, look! A whoof!
- Hey, it's a dog!
- It's a digimon, mom!
- It's a cow!
- Nice costume!
- How do you see outta that thing?
- Look! A deer!
- It TALKS!
- Can I pet you?
And the most replies I got were-- OH MY GOSH! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THAT?!
Then, there was this one time I was hanging my head out of the car window and just staring at people. There was a lady with her back turned. "Hello!" I said, and she turned around and said- "Hel-Aaah!" I think I made her say a bad word. 0_o Oops. |
It's rare to see costume contests in Mississippi these days, so I head to the internet to find them. Here are awards I've won for my fursuit...
