 The Lyrical Insurrection Seeks Features!! Some of Cincinnati's premiere performers and artists have featured on our stage at the Greenwich, Cincinnati's Historic Jazz Club. Join the running list of poets, vocalist, rappers, visual artists, healers, musicians, and crafters that have blessed the artist space at the Lyrical Insurrection Artist Showcase. Your feature is not limited to the stage perfomance. All artist are then promoted within the Lyrical Insurrection Network, merchants have the oppurtunity to sell their wares at our Merchant's Table, recording artist get play in the rotation on the Lyrical Insurrection Mixtapes, our internet radio show. The Mixtapes are recorded, archived and, then distributed throughout our network, which includes the Lyrical Insurrection Artist Showcase, the Mixtapes, and The Insurrection Magazine, currently in production seekings submissions. |
How do I feature at the Lyrical Insurrection? Before you can be featured at the Lyrical Insurrection, you have to attend and "bless the open mic" first. this gives us a chance to see if your style of art is compatible with the Showcase itself. What does it mean to be compatible? This means that your style of art fits the formula of the Lyrical Insurrection. We bring, without a doubt, the most high energy, talented, passionate, and real artist to the LI stage. Your artistry must be relevant to the social, spiritual, mental, and emotional issues that plague us, collectively, as a people. The Lyrical Insurrection is not open to everyone? Yes it is. Anyone, reguardless of race, gender, skill, sexual preference, etc, is welcome to attend the Lyrical Insurrection and perform in the open mic portion of the Showcase, but in order to be featured, the artist must have (or be building) a personal following. They must be serious about and skilled in their area of artistry, so that everyone may benefit.  |
Will I be paid for my feature? Yes. We, ourselves, are performance artist, so we know what is is like to be a "starving artist". This concept is BS!! Everyone loves the art but who will pay to see it. That is what we aim to find out. Our features share in the promotion of the Lyrical Insurrection so they recieve a percentage the night's admission. That means the better you promote your feature, the more people you will bring, the more people you bring, the more money you will make. What else should I know about the Lyrical Insurrection? The Lyrical Insurrection is on FIRE! We are a very high energy showcase with a desire to tear down the oppression that binds us all. That is the Insurrection. We fashion our words as daggers and spears so that all may hear the call of the Defenders of Truth. We welcome ages 16 and up to attend the showcase, but we have featured artists as young a 14 years old. We want to be as family friendly as possible with a weekday showcase that starts a 9pm, but we do not censor any artist that come to our stage. We desire that every voice be heard.
