Some links you might want to look at about inflation:
European Central Bank educational anime!
And here is a short movie about
hyperinflation in Serbia
Also, in the NYTimes, hyperinflation in Zimbabwe at the moment

Lecture 5: slides and this pdf document (we'll study chapter 7: "determinants of the real exchange rate")
Problem set 5 (in word format)
Here are some more links so you can read about real issues and try to understand them through the lens of the models we study together:
First, I strongly recommend
Paul Krugman's unofficial webpage. In particular, look at the section called "crises" (for example, the article called "notes on depreciation, the yen, and the argentino" is quite interesting, and you will recognise many concepts in the background.
Second
Kenneth Rogoff, another famous economist, former chief economist at the IMF, and who also appears in the media a lot to comment on international finance. Look at his "views and commentaries", which include articles as well as radio and video interviews.
You should also look at this IMF lecture by Kenneth Rogoff (also available in pdf), although we'll do the maths a bit differently.
Lecture 6
Here is an article from The Economist (March 2006 issue) on China's exchange rate and America's demands to see a revaluation of the yuan. You will understand most of it using the tools we've studied so far, and you'll understand a bit more in a couple of weeks when we talk about fixed exchange rates.
Also, it's worth having a look at some wikipedia entries (not a substitute for specialised textbooks and academic papers at all, but a good way to get a quick idea of some concepts):
Central Bank, Monetary policy. (and look up anything else you're interested in checking)
Here is an article from The economist about uncovered interest parity and real traders. So you can see the challenges faced by the pure theoretical framework a little bit Don't get confused though!
Problem set 6 on Dornbusch model (word format)
Lecture 7 and lecture 8 (on fixed exchange rates and foreign exchange intervention)
