Foster mice and there babies
May 20th I took some more pictures on May 10th of the babies which are now online.
Also took some pictures May 18-19th of Oroaro and Moca, the moms as well as new pictures of the boys.
Unfortunitaly one of the little PEW pups who was only about 3 weeks old died Sat, she had not been looking well but we though she'd be ok. All the others are doing very well and 6 are almost ready to find new homes of thier own soon.
The smallest pup let is still nursing and is eating lots of solid food now. "Her" mother, Oroaro (pink-eyed white) is definitaly pregnant and is due any day now to have another litter, so far Moca (brown) and the other yet unnamed white mom don't look pregnant so I am hopeful that they aren't again. All the mice arrived at the shelter in the same tank with many males mixed in with the 3 females and babies.
5 of the pups are males and one is a female, they are now looking for adoptive homes in pairs or groups to be pets.
THE BOYS: Spot brown/white even marked ~5-6 weeks old, Vic brown fox ~5-6 weeks old, Casper PEW ~5-6 weeks old, Snowflake PEW ~4-5 weeks old, Spaz ii white/brown broken marked ~4-5 weeks old and our only girl: Patch white/brown broken marked ~4-5 weeks old.
These little mice all arrived at the shelter along with several males and hamsters, since they are too young to be separted from mom yet the came home with me for 2-3 weeks till they can got up for adoption. It's most likely all are female but I am keeping and eye on them!
MOMS: 2 Pink Eeyed Whites and 1 brown (Chocolate, Cinnamon or Coffee)~5 months or younger
BABIES: 3-4 weeks and 5-5 1/2 weeks old. 4 PEW, 1 even marked white/brown, 2 broken marked white/brown, 2 Brown fox (might be Chocolate or Coffee Fox)
From left to right: PEW baby (Casper), Spot and Spaz II (you can just see her patch of color over her ear!)
May 10Pictures coming!
May 7th 2002 (pictures taken same day)
[left] Here are two PEW babies and one of the moms (they are both from differnt litters so the one who's back is facing you is the younger one. They are trying out some crackers for the first time, a big hit with all the moms and babies!!
[right] Here is the brown mom scratching after running in the wheel, one of the white moms and a little daredevil baby white (this is one of the older ones)
These mice are still looking for names
The babies like to try and run in the wheel but are too small to make it turn, so they often are seen climbing on and around it or taking an roller coster ride when mom's running!! They will hop on the outside, got round and then hop off.. or sometimes the try to run the other way from mom!! really cute!!
All the babies have been in the wheel other then the 2 fox babies, I have yet to see them try.
When I first brought these guys home I wans't sure how many babies where there because the whites look almost identical! But it looks like a ton as they'd keep poping up!! Turned out to be only 9 little ones!! Here you can see one of the younger little white babies along with a few older whites and a white/brown broken marked baby in the background. The 2 large mice are of course the moms!
[left]Here is the older of the two little fox babies
[right] Here is the brown/white with the most coloring, she doesn't have a name yet, and her white sister
Spaz II and a white baby try out some crackers, I gave them 2 and within about 1 hour none was left, they all loved them!!!
Here is the youngest white and the brown with the most coloring
[left] This is the "fatter" of the 2 PEW mom's she is more skittish and hates cats, they are in a room with the door closed so that cats can't see them as she won't come out if they are around so once she is ready she'll have to find a new home. None of the babies or other moms mind the cats as they know they can't get through the glass
[right] Here is the Brown mom, still not sure what color she is or picked a name, she nurses less then the other white mom so I am assuming her babies are the older litter.
[left] here is the youngest white baby, she and the second fox baby are very tiny, the others all seem to be older although one of the brown/white and another white might be the same age.
[right] Skittish PEW mom.. she is a little bit plump which makes me wonder....
Just a shot to show how tiny the littlest is!! Isn't she a cutie?
