One afternoon I was surfing the web and I came across the Lynwood Village website. I saw a letter about "do you consider yourself Canadian or Spanish?" from Miriam Mas. Being a Scot and here for thirteen years, it peaked my interest.

The next letter I saw, again form Miriam, was in regards to the Lynwood Village retirement home. This really got me peaked!!

I had moved into Lynwood Village in Januray 2000 from Kanata. Was really settling in nicely and enjoying getting the house together after extensive renovations...when all of a sudden, I could not fasten my jeans...or lift my hands above my head. Sound familiar??? Oh yes...at the tender age of 39.5, I was pregnant.

And we had just been talking about early retirement!!!

Well, during my pregnancy I had promised, that if all was well, I would visit one of the retirement homes around the area with the baby. Well, Andrew was born in November 2000...and of course I did nothiing about visiting anybody.....until I saw Miriam's next letter. It was just the kick in the rump I needed.

I was reading her letter and at the time, feeling a bit low and lonely, (you don't have to be alone to feel lonely). Well, we (Miriam) exchanged emails and called and made arrangements to meet at the retirement home. What an exilhirating feeling it was to meet all these people. I have no family here and it was great to meet an older generation of people who could be my aunts & uncles. Andrew was a hit and he enjoyed all the attention he was getting.

It does take a bit of courage to walk through that door for the first little while but when it brings so much pleasure to so many people....you just have to do it. It's a brilliant feeling. So, Andrew & I have made a few chums now and of course, have met Miriam and her two beautiful girls... and who knows who or what else is around the corner.....

It's wonderful to see our village continue up front with its own web page.. My congratulations to all who participated in this bold new adventure.. I am also proud to be mentioned in the first postings..and to have been a part of Lynwood Village Community Association's past...
