Archived Message from the President

Lynwood Village Community Association’s Annual General Meeting took place on Wednesday May 9th, 2001. It was an opportunity to thank John Udd for his hard work as president these past three years and to reflect on the year’s business.

John stepped into the role of LVCA President during a time when there was no one willing to be the president. The Association ran its’ recreation and social events, but lacked leadership. John was able to jump in, provide guidance, leadership and weather a few storms. Thank you John for your help. John will stay on the board as Past President.

I have been elected to the position of President for a period of one year and no more than three years. We are fortunate to keep our Secretary/Treasurer Dayle Raine. Karen Halchuk will remain Chair of Social Committee. Betty Marchington remains a Director. Brian Hickman takes over as Director of Sports. Kay Gale was absent but we hope will continue to be a director. Miriam Mas is our Webpage Designer. Ed Jasvins agreed to help with the webpage and newsletter. It was great to see new people out to discuss community news and concerns. The overwhelming majority of people who responded to our survey want the LVCA to monitor politic changes that might impact our community. As well people want to take part in social events. I hope to update the web site monthly as to city news and will help coordinate sports and social events. Please call or email me with your concerns.

Some concerns raised at the annual meeting were difficulties communicating with our City Councilor. We hope to see Jan Harder at our Fun Day on May 26th. Also speeding in our neighborhood continues to be a concern. The intersection of Delta and Evergreen has a lot of children and traffic. In response to this concern the city is providing a traffic investigator to see if additional signs will help in this area. Also I have noticed a greater Police presence in the last week. Hopefully this will deter speeders. Please feel free to communicate your news or concerns to me.
