wanna see
the previous year's cake? - 1997, my sister's year that time
I was looking through some
old photos that day when suddenly memories of the 'past' gushed through my mind.
That's why I've decided to share it out here. To say farewell to OTS was very
painful. I've spent my primary school days there since day one of Primary One
late Dec 1992. Life wasn't all good in OTS. By the way, OTS is the short name
for Sekolah Rendah Kerajaan Jalan Ong Tiang Swee. It wasn't a very big school
that time. When I first entered Primary One, there was only 12 classes in one
main block. We only had 2 classes for each level. It was very small. Everyone
knew each other. It was only a few years after that where many changes took
place. By the time I was in Primary 6, we had new white-laminated tables, big
signs all around, newly painted classrooms (purple, pink, green paints are some
of the examples), a small science lab and a KH workshop.
Ong Tiang Swee, history, grave yards
We as students were always afraid of the area behind the school. Actually, the land our school is built on belonged to Ong Tiang Swee, a famous Chinese businessman (I think!). Then later after the death of Ong Tiang Swee, this land was donated to the government to build a school. However, Ong Tiang Swee's grave yard was situated right behind our school. Not only that, there are also
other grave yards, there's one which we all assumed it is his wife's. It was a scary view, all jungled and looked like a deep, dark forest. But later when I was in Primary 6, the 'forest' was cleared. I even went into that area once to pick up my shuttlecock which accidentally flew in there.
Prank calls, basketballs,
weird incident
I remember one of the nicest time in 1998. On every Tuesday, we had to attend Science extra class. We usually stay back and ate lunch in school. During that interval, Rebecca, me and some 3 of the guys will play jokes around. One of our famous one was the prank calls. We would simply dial any number and asked crap. Then we would laugh so loud that the guys even ended up rolling about on the stairs (the public phone was situated on the stairs), laughing so hard.
And then after our extra class, we'll always join our guy classmates to play
basketball. Erm.. let's phrase it this way, we sometimes play basketball using a
netball net. And some other times, we'll dare each other to climb up the
basketball net using the badminton tiangs. There was even once when we noticed a
weird guy beside our school peeing in the public and showed weird expressions.
Booh.. we were scared to death and vowed to each other not to tell anyone about
that incident. My guy classmates claimed that they saw the 'thing'. Yuck..
It was hard to say good bye
to our primary school. Most of our sweetest childhood memory was 'recorded'
there. I don't have many photos to express my memories of my primary school. But
there are a few photos which I've snapped.
