An appointment with a homeopathic doctor is very thorough. You will be asked a multitude of questions from the beginning of your health history and on into your present complaints and issues. It is integral for the homeopath to learn from you what makes you who you are. This includes all of your idiosyncrasies, preferences, aversions and the details of what makes your present complaints particular to you.
This intensive initial interview commonly takes around 2 hours. After the first appointment, your case is studied in detail and a remedy most similar to the symptoms that you have described will be chosen and given to you. You will be given specific instructions as to the administration of the remedy.
Appointments are generally scheduled monthly so as to give the remedy time to do its work.
The follow-ups are much the same as the intial appointment although they are shorter and more specific. It is at this time that the homeopath is able to evaluate your body's response to the remedy and to decide upon the next course of action. This may be a new remedy, more of the same remedy or to wait giving the remedy more time to complete its action.
