| Lynda Gibbs Eaves' Fine Art Approach to Pyrography 101 Canadian wildlife Artist and Instructor Lynda Eaves returned to her homeland after many years of living in the United States. Her artwork reflects her life in Canada's wilderness. Although Lynda had been working in pyrography for some time, working on Burls is one of her inovations since moving to Canada. Burls are made from the wood that comes from a large rounded outgrowth that somethimes occurs on a tree trunk or branch. Lynda likes to either slice the burl or smooth one face of a big piece of burl to create a canvas for her pyrographs of Canadian and other wildlife. The hardwood Canadian burls are Yellow Birch, Birds Eye maple, and B.C. red maple. Ever since she turned from her portrait work to woodburning back in 1997, she specialized in doing the Endangered Species of North America. In addition, Lynda's story and work are featured in Pyrograffiti, an on-line article in January's 2000 issue of the Woodcarver On-Line Magazine linked here. Also, look for the Lynda Eaves' Salon in the E-Museum to learn more about the artist and to see examples of her works. Please enjoy viewing her galleries. She has included many favourites of hers. Any selection can be commissioned. Please return often to see new works. |
