Dr. Mack

Starring: Tony Leung, Gigi Leung, Tung Oi Ling, Andy Hui, Alex To.
The making of Dr. Mack as told by the cast of the film.
Tony Leung: "I have never thought of being a doctor. Because I am very afraid of blood. Once I saw blood, I would faint. So, I had never planned to become a doctor when I was small."
Director: "I read the comic and feel that the charaters in the comic are very interesting. The problem is how to adapt the japan comic into a HK environment. But after that I feel that putting Tony Leung as the doctor will be very romantic and appropriate. In that sense, the character will be more unique."
Tony Leung: "One of the major diffrence is the doctor in the comic is not as young as I am. Yeah....and also not as handsome. Other than that would be I am not as big as him. But I have consult with the director. It's not a problem. He said the character will be written to accomodate my style. I used to worry that the audience would say that I am too young for the role as a doctor. So, I have to work extra hard on the image to make it more realistic."
Director: " He is a doctor who does not always follow the norm. Many people who do not work according to the rules, will eventually bring disaster. But because his nature is good in the first place, even though when he doesn't follow the rules, he follow his own ethical and conscience to do a job. And in every task he do, it is challenging and helpful to everyone."
Tony Leung: " At first, we have to follow the normal procedures in our work. But once we have learned it, we should have our own way of doing things and there's where the rules should be dropped. I feel everyting is like that. Then only there will be improvement and innovation. And it's false to assume that if people tells u it is like this, then it must be like this."
Director: "Alex To's character would be someone who always wants to be no. 1. But no matter how good he does it, inside his heart, he always feel there is someone better than him. And this person is Tony Leung."
Alex To: " To me, Dr. Mack is a "clown" cos he owns a clinic in the slumps and his customers are prostitues. On the other hand, I am a world-class doctor. But I know in spite of that, he is better than me. His skills is good. And that's why there's always a thorn inside my heart."
Lau Ching Wan: "My role in this film is an undercover cop. Pretending to be a common citizen and a street cleaner. But all people in the neighbourhood know what I am doing actually."
Andy Hui: "My role in this film is to be an assistant of Dr. Mack. I gradute from university and find that Dr. Mack is a very talented doctor. So, I follow him and learn from him how to treat patients."
Tung Oi Ling: "In this film, everyone has their own problems. It does not mean the problem must be diseases or illness. Sometimes, it could be our feelings. And Tony Leung will help us to solve it. But he got his own problems also deep inside his heart."
