| 10) Dishwalla - Opaline (2002) A soft rock modern classic which allowed lead singer J. R. Richards' smooth voice to really steal the show. Vocally maybe the strongest album I've ever heard. Far better overall album than their commercial hit Pet Your Friends (1995), which featured the mainstream hit, Counting Blue Cars. Standout Tracks: Angles Or Devils, Opaline, Every Little Thing 9) Radiohead - Ok Computer (1997) The CD that really made me a Radiohead fan, it was their last effort before jumping full force into their current electronic style. It still uses some guitar, still has great lyrics/vocals, and like The Bends and Pablo Honey before it, still a great album. Standout Tracks: Climbing Up The Walls, Paranoid Android, Karma Police 8) Live - Secret Samahdi (1997) Certainly the darkest, weirdest album I own, but so dark and so weird that it's almost genius. Sadly, since this album wasn't the mainstream product that Throwing Copper before it was, many fans were put off by it. They failed to see that although the songs don't have the commercial appeal, the tremendously dark tone of the album is really what sets it apart. Standout Tracks: Lakini's Juice, Freaks, Turn My Head 7) Stone Temple Pilots - Purple (1994) After the tremendous success of their dedut, Core, STP had their hands full trying to quell the hype surrounding their follow-up. Sticking with a similar formula they released Purple and had yet another tremendous hit on their hands. This CD expands quite a bit from Core on some tracks, while still having enough grunge rock so as not to upset anyone. Standout Tracks: Kitchenware and Candybars, Silvergun Superman, Big Empty 6) Coldplay - A Rush Of Blood To The Head (2002) Not all that impressed with Coldplay's debut, Parachutes, I was reluctant to check this one out. But, after hearing all the hype, I decided to give it a go and was just blown away by it. 11 tracks, 11 great songs easily put this CD in my top ten. Standout Tracks: A Rush Of Blood To The Head, The Scientist, Green Eyes Continue on the the Top Five Back to main page |
