| 5) Radiohead - The Bends (1995) This album totally hooked me when I heard it the first time. For one, Fake Plastic Trees has gotta be my favorite rock song of the 90s. Radiohead's strongest effort in my opinion, really strong from top to bottom, truly an amazing accomplishment. Standout Tracks: Fake Plastic Trees, High and Dry, The Bends 4) Rage Against the Machine - Rage Against the Machine (1992) Tom Morello's guitar, with Zach De La Rocha's voice came together on this debut like nothing I'd ever heard before. I remember bringing a protable CD player to school with me and just playing this CD over and over as it totally revolutionized the way I looked at music. Although nothing Rage did after this will come close to what they did here, this CD made me such a huge mark of theirs that I never even cared, I was always first in line to buy their next effort. Standout Tracks: Killing In The Name, Bombtrack, Take the Power Back 3) Everclear - So Much For the Afterglow (1997) I know it's poppy and mainstream, but I love it. There's catchy guitar hooks mixed with some really strong lyrics in each song on this CD. Strong from top to bottom. So Much For the Afterglow along with Sparkle and Fade will always have me labeling Everclear as one of my favorites bands when someone asks me. Standout Tracks: Father Of Mine, Sunflowers, Distorto De Melodica 2) Stone Temple Pilots - Core (1992) Relentless. Awesome. Defining. Truly an amazing CD. In my opinion this CD is what seperated STP from every other grunge or rock act that emerged in the early 90s. While all of them had commercial success, in my opinion, none of them could muster a CD the quality of Core. Standout Tracks: Wicked Garden, Sex Type Thing, Creep 1) Live - Throwing Copper (1995) I don't know where to start with Throwing Copper. Strong from top to bottom? Sure. Amazing on all kinds of levels? Yeah. I find that nothing I can say will do Throwing Copper justice in my mind. They had tremendous commercial success with this album, but to me the songs that weren't released to radio make this CD the greatest of all time. Dam At Otter Creek starts this CD off and lets you know from the start that it'll be nothing like you've ever experienced before. To this day, after listening to this CD countless times, I'm still just as likely to pull this out of my collection as I am any other CD, because it never gets old, it never gets stale, it remains as great as the first time I heard it. Standout Tracks: T.B.D., White, Discussion, Iris That concludes my list. I know you probably don't agree with the list at all, and I wouldn't expect you to, as everyone's musical taste differs, but at least now you know where I stand. Some notably exclusions: Naveed and Clumsy by Our Lady Peace, Collective Soul's self-titled, Disciplined Breakdown and Dosage, Bush's 16Stone, Radiohead's Pablo Honey, Foo Fighters' the Color and the Shape as well as One By One.
