When I think of you
I remember the good things
and all that we used to do.
I remember the stories you told
especially the scary ones!
And the neat sounds you made
it always made me laugh
and when I think of you now
I wonder why you had to go away
why did you leave me?
Why did you take your life?
You weren't alone, I loved you, and we all did.
I know that as a man you were so shy
you used alcohol and drugs
to make you feel like a man, to feel brave.
But bravery comes for the heart,
and you were braver than you thought.
I still need you
And I'll never forget you,
To my Uncle Dougy, I love you.
~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ 1989 I wrote this in school, the teacher had us do a poem about something personal and this was just after Doug took his life and this was the most personal thing in my life unfortunately it doesn't rhyme very much. Maybe someday I'll revise it. |
