During this period of time, the baby penguin receives protection from the cold and nourishment from its father's beak until it can live on its own. This "gestation" is one in which the father and offspring have to endure the most harsh of frigid temperatures. If the father penguin abandons its young, they will perish.
Penguins are the only species in the animal kingdom in which the father is crucial to the life of its young.
This page is dedicated to ALL human fathers who are taking or have taken care of their children or other peoples' children. It is also dedicated to those fathers who want very much to take care of their children, but for unjust, legal reasons, they can not. This page is for you, too.
For those of you sons and daughters who do not know what it was like to be loved in a true way by your father or by a surrogate father---it was suppose to be. You were suppose to have had that. Sadly, for thousands and thousands of individuals like you, it was not that way. This page is for you, too.
