Hello! Thank you for stopping by. On June 20 &21, 2008 The Relay for Life of Clio will take place in Clio Park. Again this year Kim and I are forming a team with other family and friends to walk in the Relay. There has been a change in our team name. Formerly. "Mom's Pit Crew" in honor of our mothers who have battled cancer, we are now "The Pit Crew" The reason behind the change is that as the team changes and grows, we are gaining members and supporters who have other connections to cancer. Most recently joining are Tina and Candi who fathers both are currently battling cancer. Some are survivors. Others fought the good fight have moved on to a better place free of pain. As a child of a cancer patient, I can't accurately relay the helplessness we feel. We want to help make things better, to take away some of the pain and illness but we don't possess that power. It feels like watching your mother fight for her life but you can't move because you are paralyzed and encased in cement, unable to move. Our mothers gave us life and are the ones who were there through all our childhood hurts and problems, always knowing exactly what to do to make things better. In a way you feel a certain amount of guilt for not being able to do the same in return. You experience fear like you've never known before in your life when you first hear that dreaded word "cancer". Often for the very first time you face the mortality of your parents. It makes it very real that your Mom won't always be there. That's the best description I can think of right now. I am thrilled to announce that Moms Pit Crew not only won Most Team Spirit award for the second year running, but we earned the prestigous award of Highest Team Income. YES!!!!!! We hosted several fund raising events between now and were thrilled with all who joined and supported us.Our biggest project was our cook book " Cooking For A Cure". Sales were spectacular! We held car washes, pop can drives ( our youngest team members are excited about this), sought corporate donors, and held door-to-door collections. We're working towards a Battle of the Bands fund raiser as well. Our Leo Days concert was a wonderful success too. An evening filled with good music and fun. I will also be sending out letters and emails asking for your continued support. Any way you can support us would be great, even if it is just an email of encouragement. if you would like to donate to the cause here, you may do so by clicking on our Team Page button located below linked to the RFL logo. below which will allow you to do so in a secure manner. If you would like more information on the Relay for Life, the Relay For Life banner will also provide that.
Thank you so much!
