Hey Team!

It's that time again, time to rock and roll into this years Relay For Life event. Last year was such an amazing success for us.  I still am in awe of the whole team.  You are the BEST!
"Cooking For A Cure" is selling fast!  I'm so excited.   I was really surprised at the variety of recipes we collected.  I saw very few duplicates.  While searching the internet for poems to use in the cook book, I have met a man named Dave Harm.  He is a published writer of poetry, books, and articles.  His wife is a 7 year survivor of breast cancer.  Dave has some wonderful poems he's written about Relay and Surviving.  I wrote him asking permission to use one of his poems titled Relay For Survivors, and he has more then graciously agreed.  I stress that because not only has he granted us permission, he is adding a link and plug for us on his website.  He wants to order one of our cookbooks, but I am thinking maybe we should make it a gift of thanks.  Check out his writings at http://daveharm.com.

I think I mentioned it before, but in case you missed it, Relay For LIfe of Clio this year is being held June 22 & 23 in the Clio Park.  We took a vote at the last meeting prior to Relay last fall and decided on a date change. This change will give us some benefits perhaps we lost out on last year.  By the end of summer, many Relay events have been held much earlier and thus have already snagged up corporate sponsors.  Businesses plan out their budgets early and many times they are over extended by the time we come around.  We are hoping this helps.  Also, by holding the event earlier in the year it will help some of the teams, like the school teams, be able to be in better contact with each other as they see each other daily at work, but always true of the summer months.  Plus, it will free up the rest of our summers for other equally fun things like family vacations!
Mark your calenders JUNE 22 & 23, 2007!

Our plans for fund raising this year is pretty similar to last years except I don't think we'll be doing the weekend bake sales.  Seemed like a lot of work for the little bit of money they brought in.  We will have an onsite bake sale though however, and will be selling coffee.  If you remember last year by 2 in the morning we were all in desperate search for caffiene.  There was a line waiting at Bumble Bees Buzzing Out Cancer's site by 5 am.  We want to to do the car washes again this year. They were a lot of fun and we did well with them.  Dates and places will be announced as soon as we set them.      Our kids loved the pop can drives so much they are itching to get going again.  My parents started saving cans for us almost as soon as Relay 2006 ended.  We are collecting VG's Community Share points, so grab them receipts and beg your freinds, families and neighbors for theirs too!  Of course we'll be doing the luminaria bag sales and taking donations from friends and family.   Onsite fundraisers this year are: face painting by a professional clown, dammit dolls, bracelets, a Guess the money in the jar contest, sale of balloons, and a pancake breakfast. Plus a few others slipping my mind at the moment.
We are set up at the ACS page to collect online donations as well.  Log on to get registered and  set up your page to email out to friends and family.

Since the Balloons To Heaven went so great last year we'll be doing that again too.  When collecting donations don't forget to offer advance orders for the balloons as well.  They are $1 a piece.  Taking advance orders will give us a better estimate to provide the FAA when I set up the air space request with them.
Our Leo Days concert went wonderfully, raising over $1200!
We've added a professionall clown to our onsiote fund raisers. His name is Shoq the Clown and he will be doing FULL face painting from 7 - 8:30 PM Friday June 22.

Also don't forget that we have a team store set up on cafepress.com

Well, that's where we are at right now.  I set a tentative fund raising goal of $5000.  I think we can do it.  Of course this amount can change if we want it to.  I just threw up a ball park figure of $500 more then we raised last year.  This year's theme is The Circus. It ought to be a blast. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please pass them along to Kim or I.  Our email addresses are:
