Exploration:
Philosophy and Religion
God
(we like to kep it small here at Exploration....)
Is there a God--An all-encompassing greater being?  If so, what is He (or She) like?
Redwing's Response:

If you have read other things of mine, then you probably know that I do believe in God.  Some people might actually think that this is odd: all through high school I was interested in the sciences, and scientific types aren't
supposed to be religious.  These same people would probably think it odd that I am currently prusuing a major at college which is half Physics and half Philosophy.  How could those two subjects possibly go together?  I plan to talk a bit about that below in the "science and religion" paragraph.

There are a lot of ways to look at the question "does God exist," and there are a lot of issues that get discussed along the way, so I'll "divide and conquer".  In each paragraph, I will try to address a single point of view or line of reasoning that people have used to discuss God's existence, and describe my views about it.

1) Whitehead's 6 reasons for including God in his philosophy  (COMING SOON))

Also coming soon:

10) Good Reads:
Fun Fiction for Further Reading:
       --Good Omens
--Incarnations of Immortality (Series)--Piers Anthony  (you'd have to start from the beginning of the series to get the                         whole picture, but they're all good books....)
       --Imajica (with reservations)
       --Movie: Dogma  **must see**
--Paradise Lost  (I have not read it in full, just the beginning, but I do plan to read it.  this is a classic.)
--Time Quartet (series) by Madeleine L'Engle  (not about God but about Good and Evil and what they are like--I highly                      recommend it.)

Excellent Nonfiction:
--Mere Christianity, by CS Lewis.  A very well done book about the most basic beliefs of the Christian faith.
--Just about any book by Harold S. Kushner
--The God We Never Knew, by Marcus J. Borg
